Hiding your crypto private keys is
not a security plan
FreezeKeys gives you the tools to level up your crypto backup
security with your own unique keymap.
FreezeKeys is key storage massively resistant to
theft. Easy to recover in the event of a disaster. Laptop/phone stolen or damaged? Restore in minutes.
It's trustless, simple to use. and hides & protects your private keys - allowing you to back them up in multiple locations with total security. And its free!
Not your keys, not your crypto... right? We take that concept to the
next level.
This offline only (browser based) tool uses algorithms that produce a
highly randomized pair of alphanumeric characters. Each pair
represents 1 character of your private key. It doesn't double your
security, it multiplies it by 3.101×10^97. It makes your
encoded keys unreadable and exponentially increases your backup
security. Then we add 256-bit AES encryption on top.
Only by re-combining the decrypted keymap and encoded keys can you reveal your
original private keys. Best of all, its a self-custody solution. And it's trustless - so you're in control all the way.
Is this a techy nerdy thing? I don't have time for anything complicated.
Absolutely not - it's a push-button process. If you can copy and paste and save files into folders, you're more than qualified. Besides, being a crypto holder pre-qualifies you to handle your own cold storage!
Once you're encoded and encrypted (which is a one-time process and very fast and easy) you can store your keymap and encoded keys on separate USB sticks, in different physical locations. We advise making a backup for redundancy. You can store your password in a password manager.
Can I use FreezeKeys to backup hardware and software wallet seed phrases?
No, FreezeKeys is purpose-built for backing up private keys only such as paper wallets or Metamask private keys for example. We have another tool called FreezeSeeds that will be released very soon, which is designed for backing up hardware and software wallet seed phrases. FreezeKeys and FreezeSeeds are companion tools that work together to secure your crypto wealth.
How do I know I can trust Freezekeys when encoding my private keys?
The source code for Freezekeys is available for all to see. Its a simple HTML file that uses javascript inside your browser, locally. It runs offline so you're not exposed to any servers or third parties. It stores nothing in the browser which is easy to verify. You can inspect the code and see that it's not sending any data anywhere. It's a trustless solution. You can also run Freezekeys on an air-gapped computer for extra security.
Offline. Secure. Easy. FreezeKeys.
